Review: Rega App

The Rega app is a valuable tool that offers a range of benefits, designed to enhance safety and streamline emergency response. Here is an overview of its features:

• Alert the Rega Operations Centre: In case of an emergency, the app automatically transmits your current location to Rega. This feature ensures that precious time is saved, allowing for a prompt response.
• Share live location: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, such as hikers, this function enables you to share your location with Rega or your chosen contacts. By doing so, friends and family can track your route and notify Rega through the app if you fail to return as planned. This enables Rega to quickly determine your last known location and initiate a search operation.
• Test the alarm: Prior to any emergency situation, it is crucial to ensure that the app has been correctly configured and that the alarm feature functions properly. This simple test provides peace of mind and ensures reliability when it matters most.
• Store useful information: Your profile allows you to enter important data, like your patronage number, which can assist the Rega Operations Centre during an emergency.
• Available in neighboring countries: The Rega app goes beyond Switzerland and Liechtenstein, as it can also be downloaded in Germany, Austria, France, and Italy.
• Multi-language support: The Rega app caters to a diverse audience by offering four language options: German, French, Italian, and English. The language setting on your smartphone determines the app's language.

Important Remarks:

After the initial installation, make sure to follow these steps:

1. Add the Rega app icon to your phone's home screen.
2. Open the app and configure it according to your requirements. Accept the Data Protection Regulations and Terms of Use. Then, enter your personal details and verify your mobile phone number to prevent any delays during an emergency.
3. Grant the app permission to access your location. This enables Rega to locate and rescue you more efficiently.
4. Verify the alarm feature by performing a test. This ensures its correct functionality during an emergency.

Raising the Alarm in an Emergency:

• Alarm procedure: Once your location has been successfully transmitted to Rega, a telephone connection is established with the Operations Centre. It is essential that a conversation takes place between the person raising the alarm and the Operations Centre before initiating a rescue mission.
• Location feature limitations: The location feature relies on adequate mobile phone coverage, including GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile phone network signals.
• SIM card requirement: Without an active SIM card, making phone calls is not possible using the app.
• In case of a blocked SIM card: Only the European emergency number 112 can be dialed.
• Raise the alarm outdoors: To ensure optimal signal reception, it is advised to raise the alarm in an open-air setting.
